Appropriate use of water

  • Vehicles (including trailers) and their loads must comply with Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads standards. eg: Tie down straps must be rated to a level that exceeds the expected weight of the item being carried. Ropes are not permitted.

  • Proof of registration may be requested.

  • The amount of water drawn from the standpipe must not exceed the carry capacity of the vehicle or trailer. Keep in mind 1 litre of water = 1 kilogram. Carry capacity examples:

    • Single cab utility (1 tonne), 750 litres

    • Dual cab utility (1 tonne), 500 litres

    • Single axle trailer, 500 litres

    • No deliveries over 500 litres, for trailers, unless it is appropriately rated and has brakes fitted

    • Vehicles in good condition that wish to exceed these limits, customer will need to provide proof of capacity.

  • Failure to comply with the conditions may result in withdrawal of access to TRC standpipes.

  • Non-potable water will be used solely for commercial and industrial use in accordance with water guidelines.

  • Water supplied for construction work or similar will not be onsold or made available for drinking water purposes.

  • A current food licence is required for carriers that sell potable water for drinking water purposes.

  • A clear tube is to be attached to water carting containers to indicate to the operator the level of water in the tank at any given time.

  • Hoses and fittings will be kept in good condition to ensure no water wastage.

  • Failure to comply with the conditions may result in withdrawal of access to TRC standpipes.
